The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Car Guide. This guide is one of your primary tools in negotiating a price on a vehicle, whether you are buying, selling, or trading. Sometimes referred to as a "blue book", (the guide is actually dark yellow), the NADA Guide establishes both retail and trade-in values for used vehicles. It’s wise to have the facts on hand before you approach a dealer or put your car on the market.
Ever wonder if the used car you are looking at has been in a wreck or damaged by a flood? That kind of car is out there, even on the lot of dealers we trust. Learn about a car’s history through CarFax before you buy. Not sure which car to buy? Do some basic research, compare like makes and models across the industry and learn what the dealer invoice price is before you go to the showroom. You can learn all of this and more from CarClub.
Vehicle Service Agreements. Brand new cars come with a very comprehensive warranty arrangement. Typically, that warranty will cover most every item, bumper-to-bumper, for 36 months from time of purchase or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The dealer will offer you an extended warranty at the time of sale. An extended warranty can protect your automotive investment up to 84 months or 100,000 miles.
